Hosted Services
Unlike many other hosting companies PowWeb only offers a single hosting plan for all their customers. Despite having full on features, this can seem a little constricting to large businesses as it only allows for 75 MySQL databases. The cost for the plan is $4.88 per month and customers can sign up for 1 or 2 year contracts.

The plan provides unlimited storage space and data transfer and allows for the creation of unlimited sub domains. They do not mention if the plan is able to support multiple domains. An operations control panel is also provided to manage the website. All plans are e-Commerce ready and provide ShopSite Starter Shopping carts and accept Paypal payments. One free domain registration is included in the plan. A number of scripts are included in the plan so that customers can easily add features such as content management systems (Joomla, Drupal), blogs (WordPress, PixelPost), galleries, forums and more.

The standard web based programming languages such as PHP, Perl and CGI are supported, along with providing support for flash and multimedia. In order to increase website traffic $50 of Google credit and $25 of Yahoo are also provided. Customers can also analyze their website traffic with the provided Webalizer & AwStats web statistics.

The plan also provides for unlimited POP3 and SMTP email accounts, however customers can sign up for the hosted Exchange services if they require a more powerful system. The additional cost for this is $12.95 per month for a 2000GB mailbox. Larger mailboxes can also be purchased for an additional cost.

In the event of a problem or service request the PowWow team can be contacted by calling their 24x7 toll free number or by the live chat service available on their website. Customers also have the option of browsing through the knowledge base with provides information on topics such as account management, domain registration and scripting, or can start a new discussion in the community based forums.

Affiliate Program
In order to give back to its customers PowWow offers them a chance to sign up for their referral program which pays $97.77 for each additional customer that they bring. In order to track their earning and payouts an online control panel is provided on the company's website.

Company Information
PowWow was establied in 1999 and has been in the web hosting industry since their inception. They claim themselves to be one of the leaders in the "low cost" web hosting market however they do not have the recent awards to back up that claim. They emphasize the fact that their entire infrastructure and systems are built in house by their own engineers and programmers. This enables them to make sure the systems are tailor made to fit their customer's needs.

The most recent award that they have won was in 2009 which was awarded to them by ConsumerRankings.com. The have won a few awards such as Editors Pick by HostingReview.com in 2006 and WebHostingReviews.com in 2007. All their customers are hosted on Dell servers with NetApp storage devices and Cisco and Juniper networking equipment. They also provide load balancing for each server to ensure that their customers get the fastest response time.

Without the proper personal research and interaction with the company it is impossible to make an informed decision. Reviews such as this should only be taken in an educational capacity.

While they do provide customers with useful features and attractive pricing, the lack of testimonials, awards and diversity of services causes doubts about signing up with PowWow.com.
